
Delco Tobacco Free Coalition
Since the inception of the Delaware County Tobacco-Free Coalition in 1997, the Coalition has provided various prevention and informational programs to improve the quality of life for Delaware County residents. The programs have provided FREE youth and adult tobacco cessation programs, educated and assisted schools in adopting a smoke free school policy, promoted awareness and participation in the Great American Smoke Out essay contest in middle and elementary schools, a Kick Butts Day Bookmark contest and No World Tobacco Day activities. Furthermore, the coalition has provided community educational events on current topics like the e-cigarette epidemic among youth and promoting and assisting county boroughs and townships in adopting clean outdoor air ordinances through the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Young Lungs at Play initiative.
The Coalition has developed and maintained an ongoing relationship with Delaware County Council about their work to gain support and accept resolutions around their work.
Importantly, current and past members include, American Cancer Society, ChesPenn Health Services, Child and Family Focus, Child Guidance Resource Centers, Clean Air Council, Crozer-Keystone Community Foundation, Delaware County Community College, Delaware County Health Department, Garnet Valley School District, Health Promotion Council, Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems, Main Line Health System and the Delaware County Office of Behavioral Health, Division of Drug and Alcohol.
